To get an accurate truckload quote, send the pickup and delivery locations with postal codes, the equipment you need, the size and weight of the load, how often it ships, your dock and appointment details, and any special requirements such as temperature control. The more precise you are, the fewer surprises later.
The essentials
- Pickup and delivery addresses, including postal codes.
- The equipment type: dry van, reefer, straight truck or cargo van, or ask for a recommendation.
- The load: number of pallets, dimensions, approximate weight and what the freight is.
- How often it moves: one-time, weekly, daily, seasonal.
- The date and time window for pickup and delivery.
Dock and site details that change the price
- Dock or ground-level loading, and whether a liftgate is needed.
- Appointment requirements and receiving hours at both ends.
- Any restrictions on trailer length, access roads or time of day.
- Waiting time you expect at the dock and how it is handled.
Special requirements
- Temperature range, if refrigerated.
- High-value, fragile or secure freight that needs sealed trailers or a consistent driver.
- Paperwork, security or site-induction requirements for drivers.
Why recurring volume gets a better answer
A one-time load is priced against the market on the day. A recurring lane lets a carrier plan equipment and driver time, so telling a carrier your expected frequency and volume often leads to a more stable price and a more reliable schedule.
